WELCOME TO YACK STATION PRECINCT - A UNIQUE RECYCLED BUILDING
Yack Station is a unique space that has been created as a business and studio space hub In Yackandandah in North- East Victoria.
Yack Station is a unique structure constructed in 2014 from predominantly recycled and repurposed materials. These materials were gathered from a variety of sites throughout north-east Victoria, including the Albury flour mill, the north-east water building as well as the Strand Arcade in Melbourne all of which were demolished. The building houses a number of different spaces including a locally owned whiskey and gin distillery, small artist studios and workshop areas and a number of different business enterprises. The tranquil location of Yack Station is the site of the old Yackandandah Railway which is no longer operational. A small railway museum is located within the building which shows a model of the Beechworth to Yackandandah railway.
CURRENT NEWS MARCH 2021
COVID-19 has affected all businesses and particularly galleries and artist enterprises over the course of 2020 and Yack Station has been no exception. So unfortunately the gallery has been downsized quite considerably for the present.
However whilst there have been some major changes to the Yackstation art spaces over the last 12 months we are have been overjoyed to welcome Leigh and Bree Attwood's new whiskey and gin distillery BACKWOODS DISTILLING Co. to the Yack Station Precinct The distillery doors opened in early March 2021 and both Leigh and Bree have been overwhelmed with the support and visitation they have already received from locals and those further afield. Come and take a look and have a taste.
